Had this song stuck in my head when I woke up this morning. The Grey Album remains solid six years on – a testament to Dangermouse’s talents. I think it would be easy to mess up a Jay/Beatles mashup, and I’ve maintained that this version is better than the beats on The Black Album.
Anyway, here’s the tune (no official video).
Constituent parts after the jump.

This one’s not hard to trace. I went to karaoke last night (it was crazy expensive – $9 beers anyone?) and attempted to sing Kanye West’s “Gold Digger“. Although I thought I knew the lyrics, the delivery is actually really hard. Say what you will about Kanye, but his style is hard to emulate. Also, it was pouring rain, so it made me think of flooding, and then probably the disaster that was New Orleans during and after Hurricane Katrina. In the wake of that tragedy, during a benefit fundraiser, Kanye, in one of his first outbursts, said on live television: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” Hence, the inspiration for this amazing song.
(Editor’s note: I’m not sure if this is the original video, but it’s the only one I could find.)
So the most recent viral video that’s been making its way around the ‘nets is called “David After Dentist” and depicts a boy just after having a tooth pulled who is still drugged up on anesthesia and is basically drunk. It’s been generating a lot of comment for being both funny and controversial. I think a lot of us can relate to what David is going through here, but was it right for his father (I assume) to film him in a moment of weakness and put it on the internet? Would he have guessed that it would garner a staggering 4 million views in just one week ? And that it would spawn a large number of “remixes“?
For The Win, David asks: “Is this real life?” The question of our times indeed.
Here is the original:
And here is my favorite remix so far, the METAL version! Headbanging and all. It rulez.
In what will undoubtedly be this year’s last, best meme, BoingBoing editor Xeni Jardin took one for the team (that team being ALL TEH INTERWEBZ!) by posting a bunch of animated .gifs depicting “reinterpretations” of the shoe thrown by Muntadhar al-Zaidi (yes, OMFG this guy has his own Wikipedia page) at George W. Bush. Within 24 hours since the post published, their bandwidth costs went through the roof.
According to Xeni, FTW:
I could have purchased 8.3 pairs of real live Manolos for what this blog post cost us in just 24 hours.
See all the epic lulz here, here and (warning, somewhat annoying music) here.
Super creative video, made by fans of the MegaMan series. Yes, I have nerd roots that I am not afraid to represent. I can say that I’m not into “nerdcore” by any means what-so-ever.
